Job Description
General Purpose:
Monitor the intake receiving area and assure proper flow of incoming milk and other products. Load out cream and perform all quality tests. Test milk for contamination, quality, and antibiotics. Perform scheduled cleaning activities. Direct truck drivers on parking and checks for security of milk & milk products. Provide operation and maintenance support to the Evaporator department within the plant. Perform tasks in a safe manner and follow safety and environmental regulations. Work within standard operating procedures, under a moderate degree of supervision. This position will also provide relief coverage for both departments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate the Reverse Osmosis system, Evaporator & Cooling towers, and all of its processes
Operate the Loading/unloading equipment, silos, scale, printer
Maintain Receiving bays, Load out bays, Intake, Silo Corridors, Evaporator, Evap area and ground floor. Keep clean and sanitary, picking up and putting away clamps, gaskets and pipes when not in use
Interact with drivers, field reps, regulatory agencies, and DFA personnel
Record truck weights, time of arrival and departure
Direct trucks to appropriate unloading bays
Load/Unload and monitor milk loads, Condensed Skim Milk, Sweet Cream, WPC & Condensed Whey
Conduct laboratory testing of milk for quality
Conduct antibiotics testing on milk, attain Certification with the MDA Appendix N to become a registered analyst for milk receiving
Assure accurate accounting of incoming/outgoing products within SAP and logs
Perform necessary routine cleaning, CIP’s and preventive maintenance
Complete wash up in a timely fashion and operate CIP equipment
Record tanker seal numbers, wash tags, & lot numbers
Ensure product is sampled, tested & meets specifications prior to loading/unloading
Prevent spills, report spills immediately
Maintain operating records for relevant equipment per Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor all equipment in the areas to ensure quality & reliability
Report all equipment malfunctions and abnormalities to Supervisors, Management, and or Maintenance
Control and monitor HTST pasteurizer, including the documentation of production and non-production activities in accordance with customer, state, and USDA requirements
Assist with CIP validations, inventory counting and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures
Complete, maintain, and review of daily and weekly area sanitation and other reports
Stay current on operation of all equipment in Intake and Evap departments
Flexibility to vary work schedule dependent upon production and staffing needs
Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
This position will handle a large variety of chemicals throughout the facility, be familiar with 3E
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
Maintain a clean organized and professional work area at all times in accordance to 5S methodology, which is to create a clean orderly environment where there is a place for everything, and everything is in its place
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
1 year of experience with the Evaporator process and or related field preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skill set must include proficient use of computers
Able to perform task and duties under limited supervision
Able to multi-task
Able to follow directions and carry out instructions
Able to take appropriate steps to find solutions to problems
Must be able to read, write and speak English
