Job Description
Oracle Database supports the most demanding mission-critical customer requirements, operating at global scale to provide a secure, distributed, multi-tenant data platform for structured as well as unstructured data.
Globally Distributed Databases are used by customers to build applications that require high volume, high velocity and high variability data platforms. Our customers use The Service to support data sovereignty/residency requirements where a data element is required to stay within a specific geographic boundary.
As a member of The Service Team, you will work directly with customers to troubleshoot core OCI problems, such as network provisioning, and database performance issues. You will work with the Service & Database Development teams to resolve problems in a timely fashion.
You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. A customer-centric mindset, maturity, intellectual curiosity, agile development approach, pivot when needed, ability to hire and influence analytical talent are essential to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Work interactively with customers to diagnose problems with The Service & underlying Oracle databases
Capture findings using Jira trouble ticket systems
Communicate problem descriptions to The Service & Database development teams
Work with cross-functional teams across OCI to resolve customer problems
Follow runbook procedures in response to specific alarms and alerts
Suggest improvements to runbook procedures when needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
3+ years experience with Oracle Database deployments running on-premise environments
3+ years experience with PL/SQL
3+ years experience working in cloud environments
Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
Ability to think in a high-energy, fast paced environment
*Ability work on-call shifts as assigned by management
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with relational databases, specifically Oracle
5+ years experience using AWR, SQL*Monitor and other Oracle database performance diagnostics to understand database performance issues
Experience in performance tuning & diagnosis of Oracle databases running on premise or in cloud environments
5+ years experience working with Oracle Database Support & Engineering teams to diagnose problems with production Oracle Database systems
5+ years experience with scripting languages such a bash, python and Terraform
