Position Summary

We are seeking seasoned Lead Software Engineer to manage and enhance our legacy Windows-based product line; Crimson. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in C++ programming, strong knowledge of firmware, and a solid background in embedded systems. This role involves overseeing legacy software efforts, demonstrating project management abilities, and contributing to our agile development process within the industrial automation sector. The successful candidate should have experience leading or directly managing other professionals. The ability to mentor, guide and develop a junior team is also an expectation from this leader.

Depending on experience, a modification to Job Title/leveling may occur (Lead/Supervisor/Manager).

Essential Job Functions

  • Legacy Software Management: Lead the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of Crimson; legacy Windows-based software product. Ensure the longevity and performance of existing systems.
  • Development and Maintenance: Write, debug, and optimize C++ code for legacy software. Ensure high standards of code quality and system performance.
  • Firmware Expertise: Apply strong firmware knowledge to support and improve embedded systems within the product line.
  • Embedded Systems: Utilize extensive experience with embedded systems to troubleshoot, enhance, and innovate on existing product functionalities.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards. Use project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor project progress.
  • Agile Methodology: Implement and advocate for agile practices within the team, facilitating iterative development, continuous integration, and regular feedback cycles.
  • Industrial Automation: Leverage expertise in industrial automation to ensure products meet industry standards and customer requirements. Stay updated with advancements in industrial automation technologies.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, QA, and product managers, to achieve project goals.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all development activities and generate detailed progress reports for stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Extensive experience in software engineering with a focus on legacy Windows-based systems and C++ programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Lead or supervisory capacity on engineering team
  • Strong firmware development ski ls.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems and their integration with software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, with experience in project planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and their application in software projects.
  • Deep understanding of industrial automation systems and their requirements.
  • Familiarity with development tools and frameworks relevant to legacy Windows systems and industrial automation.
