Your Opportunity

Stantec's Water practice has an opportunity for a Civil Engineer who shares our passion for high-quality design, client loyalty, and thrives in a fast-paced work environment to join our team in Winston-Salem, NC.

The role of a mid-level civil engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects in collaboration with senior technical experts. Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years practical and proven experience in engineering design, permitting, and construction management of water mains, sewer lines, pump stations, storm drainage systems, and/or water and wastewater treatment plant projects. Registered Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in State of North Carolina or ability to obtain NC PE license within one year is preferred.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Project planning and design activities.

  • Assist with budget creation and tracking of project costs.

  • Preparation of project drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.

  • Coordination with other project designers, engineers, and managers.

  • Preparation of written reports and project documents.

  • Construction administration and oversight of field observation tasks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or similar.

  • Minimum 3 years prior work experience, preferably in North Carolina.

  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams able to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Possesses team leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously.

  • Possession of strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • General experience with AutoCAD, BIM 360, Bluebeam programs.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer.

Minimum of 4 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
