Millerbernd Manufacturing Co. Welder 2 (experienced MIG) in Winsted, Minnesota

NOW HIRING : We are looking for a skilled Welder 2 to join our team. A Welder 2 is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication, and building functions in the manufacture of various products following product specifications. Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered. Successful completion of the internal welding test is mandatory. Currently hiring on all 3 shifts: 1st, 2nd, and Weekend shift.

Millerbernd Manufacturing Company is an AWS (American Welding Society) Sustaining Company Member.

As a Welder 2, you will:

  • Perform the following GMAW welds – butt – V – single bevel and fillet welds on carbon steel

  • Produce welds that pass visual inspection

  • Can perform necessary repairs that pass and adhere to Millerbernd’s Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements

  • Demonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 and/or .062 diameter wires

  • Read and understand Millerbernd’s WPS – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters

  • Proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges

  • Read and understand Millerbernd’s WPS – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters

  • Can perform welds using the following wire – solid – flux core and metal core as needed

  • Can weld carbon, stainless steel as needed

  • Perform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removed

  • Layout and tack to specifications

  • Use a grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind, or finish parts as needed

  • Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products.

  • Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence

  • Must be AWS GMAW certified

  • Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certification within 60 days of employment – up to 3 attempts

    Role Qualifications as a Welder 2:

  • Successful completion of the internal welding test is mandatory

  • Qualified candidates will have 3+ years of metal fabrication/welding (specifically MIG) experience

  • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols

  • Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed

  • Ability to operate various power and hand tools

  • Knowledge of weld positioners, turners, fixtures, and equipment

  • Shift options:

  • 1st shift is Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm

  • 2nd shift is Monday - Thursday 3pm – 1am includes $1.50/hour shift differential

  • Weekend shift is Friday – Sunday 5am – 5pm includes $2.50/hour shift differential

  • 10-hour shifts (per day) including paid breaks (1st and 2nd shifts)

  • 12-hour shifts (per day) including paid breaks (weekend shift)

  • Voluntary Overtime is available
