Eaton Corporation Fabrication/Welding Technician II - 1st Shift in Windsor, Connecticut

Eaton’s EPG CHD ALP Airport Lighting Products division is currently seeking a Fabrication/Welding Technician II - 1st Shift. The core hours are 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. The hourly rate for this position is 27.67-32.2 per hour.

What you’ll do:

The Welding Technician will layout, make templates, cut off, punch, drill & tap, and weld. Load steel into machines to cut, form and/or bend to various configurations, operating machinery including punch/laser machine, press brake, manual shear, powered industrial vehicles as requested. Off load excess steel material. Must wear proper steel fabrication PPE, such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses, material handling gloves, ear protection and long sleeve shirt or cut resistant slip-ons. Must have experience welding aluminum extrusions & stainless-steel sheet metal.

  • Support work assignments from supervisor or production control system.

  • Input information into data collection system as required.

  • Work from manufacturing information, sketches, drawings, oral and written instructions.

  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery such as oiling, manual clamp adjustments, and clamp/finger replacement

  • Utilize material handling equipment, including powered industrial vehicles, to move product and supplies. May lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance.

  • Become familiar with all materials used to perform job functions. Follow material safety data sheet instructions.

  • Utilize calipers, gauges, or other measuring devices to assure engineering standards to the .001 precision level.

  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.

  • Must reside within a 50 mile radius from work site

  • Two 2 years of previous welding experience with aluminum & sheet metal (Carbon & stainless steel)

  • Ability to read blueprints

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience running bend, punch, cutoff, shear and iron worker machining centers

  • Previous experience using overhead cranes and fork lifts to move material.

  • Ability to read and interpret various fabrication drawings

  • Experience with precision measuring devices such as; calipers, OD/ID and depth gauges, and other measuring devices

  • Six months of previous fabrication experience
