Kanaan Communications, LLC Technician Engineering Outside Plant (OSP) in Winchester, Virginia

Overview and Essential Functions

We are looking for an experienced Telecommunications Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer to join our team and help connect America. The OSP Engineering Technician is responsible for designing outside plant work orders and providing necessary field and administrative support.

Candidate must live in the Virginia Norva/Piedmont, VA area and must have Verizon fiber design experience and be able to draw jobs in a CAD program.

What you'll do:

  • Design outside plant work orders.

  • Provide administrative and field support to the outside plant provisioning process.

  • Be familiar with the various communications outside plant engineering concepts (e.g. copper cable, fiber optic cable and coax cable).

  • Be responsible for coordinating fieldwork.

  • Prepare work order drawings and documentation, updating work order records in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Provide work order estimated expenditures and/or placement and joint use memos.

  • All other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications

What you'll need to successfully fill this role:

  • Verizon design experience with fiber

  • Knowledge of drawing jobs in a CAD program

  • Advanced knowledge of outside plant design

  • Knowledge of telephone industry standards, accessing, reading and interpreting mechanized assignment records

  • Knowledge is required to understand infrastructure plans and survey information for the elimination and prevention of conflicts with existing or proposed underground, site obstacles, and for proper installation location within easements and public rights of way

  • Knowledge of PC software package tools, including word processing (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point). OSP record and/or computer aided CAD drafting systems

  • Be able to interact with all on-line computer systems that Verizon requires.

  • Knowledgeable of all municipal and governmental requirements for all work performed

  • A HS diploma or equivalent
