GE Vernova Senior Engineer - Configuration Management (Remote Eligible, U.S) in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Senior Engineer – Configuration Management is a key contributor to the team responsible for development and maintenance of system, tool, documentation and data control processes and procedures that support quality program requirements and project delivery requirements for commercial nuclear power plants. The role develops project conventions, guides, administers accounts, provides product structure support, and controls and manages design process data with engineering software tools.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • This role provides direction and assistance to the Engineering teams to meet assigned configuration management objectives. As the Lead Engineer – Configuration Management you will:

  • Lead in selection of a CM information system (CMIS), procurement, maintenance, interoperability, and interfacing with a common data environment.

  • Define and support nuclear industry configuration management practices, document management, and change control processes for new commercial nuclear power plant projects.

  • Drive specification, development, implementation, and operation of assigned CM processes consistent with GEH and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of CM processes and tools for nuclear plant projects, coordinate GEH project CM processes with other organizations.

  • Manage the process to establish initial configuration control that matches Physical Facility Configuration, Facility Configuration Information, and Design Requirements for a fleet of Small Modular Reactors as they complete the Construction Phase of development.

  • Manage the change management process responsible for confirming that Physical Facility Configuration, Facility Configuration Information, and Design Requirements match for a fleet of Small Modular Reactors.

  • Assist with engineering configuration management implementation activities inside GEH, in partnership with Information Technology (IT) and support CM interface activities at suppliers.

  • Master the project Information Management System and engineering design tool suites necessary to maintain CM equilibrium.

  • Coordinate project CM processes and tools with those of major suppliers.

  • Support Engineering and Project Management in planning, assessment, reporting and tracking activities and in preparation of related presentations and reports.

  • Work within a diverse team environment to execute work plans and schedules as applicable for mission success.

  • Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, and initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.

  • Provide on-time, quality delivery of documentation packages in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in technical discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering or configuration management position

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on standing up CMIS, maintenance, and interfacing.

  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated practice of CM standards (EPRI, NIRMA, IAEA)

Eligibility Requirements :

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

  • Preferred work location is GE Hitachi Nuclear headquarters in Wilmington NC, but highly qualified remote (US Based) candidates will be considered.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CM certification (CMII, CMPIC, etc.).

  • Experience in a role interfacing with customers, regulators and/or suppliers.

  • Working knowledge of codes, standards & regulations related to nuclear power plants.

  • Knowledge of and experience with Configuration Management.

  • Engineering plant modeling activities.

  • Knowledge of and experience with engineering design and design process tools such as Doors Next Gen, SmartPlant, 3KeyMaster or other similar design tools, and with software systems QA requirements.

  • Quick learner, able to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships.

  • Knowledge of nuclear business products, business processes, and customers.

  • Experience with GE documentation system, practices, and requirements.

  • Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments.

  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude.

  • Clear thinker; communicates messages clearly and concisely.

The base pay range for this position is $112-160k. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 8/5/2024.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
