Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Temporary Part-Time Livestock Worker 1 - Pocono Downs Racetrack in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4511826 THE POSITION Have you previously worked with horses? Would you like to apply your skills in the dynamic field of horse racing? The Department of Agriculture is looking for a Livestock Worker candidate to support Veterinarians in managing horses, documenting information, and obtaining samples at Pocono Downs Racetrack. Livestock Workers play a crucial role in upholding the guidelines set by the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Livestock Worker 1 role entails the monitoring of designated horses, the collection of urine and blood samples, the maintenance of the detention barn, and providing assistance with various farm tasks. You will be required to retrieve the sample kit from the state vet's office, verify the sample numbers on the urine cup, security seals, and witness receipt. Additionally, you must inform the state vet once the urine has been collected and assist the vet in bleeding the horse.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Temporary part-time employment Typical workdays are Monday, Tuesday, Saturday: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Sunday 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The work schedule is vendor controlled and may change as determined by the racing schedule. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Post Employment Requirement: This position will require possession of a Commission Employee License once hired.

Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
