Westchester Jewish Community Services Director of Development in White Plains, New York

Overview:

  • Full-Time Development Director to work in our Headquarters located in White Plains, NY.

  • The Development Director will be responsible for special events, overseeing development operations, partnering on fundraising communications and the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of donors, as directed by the Chief Advancement Officer. This position will have two direct reports.

  • Compensation: $100,000.00/year.

    Responsibilities:

    As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee the operations of the fundraising department including database management and volunteer management with the support of two development associates.

  • Lead role in coordinating and executing all donor events, including Annual Gala, holiday toy drive luncheons and other events as needed including recruiting and managing lay leader committees.

  • In close collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer, oversee execution of Year End Appeal, including work with Marketing & Communications team to develop strategic messaging platform, solicitation card, email marketing campaign; identification and solicitation of Year End Appeal Match Donor; personalized donor outreach to portfolio donors; lapsed donor outreach, post-campaign analysis and segmented planned giving campaigns.

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of Annual and Planned Giving donors and prospects. Track and steward individual donors who have supported a particular WJCS program with targeted outreach.

  • Write individualized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship letters, proposals and reports.

  • Conduct face-to-face visits, zoom and phone calls to steward current donors and engage new donor prospects.

  • Attend monthly board meetings (some virtually) to record attendance, motions/votes and minutes. Solicit and assemble notes from each board meeting presenter to prepare minutes. Obtain approval of minutes from CEO and Board President. Post minutes on Boardable.

    Requirements:

    We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.

  • 10+ years’ fundraising and development experience.

  • Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to travel to program sites, meeting sites etc.

  • Previous experience working with a board of directors.

  • Demonstrated oversight of development operations, volunteer management and event management.

  • Proven ability to solicit and secure gifts.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and relate well with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in CRM data systems and computer skills.

  • Self-motivated, independent worker.

  • Experience with Bloomerang database management preferred.
