The anticipated salary range for this role is between $129,000.00 and $185,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Data Quality issues management lead is an important role within the Data quality Management team. This experienced incumbent will lead forums with key business and technical stakeholders to document, assess and remediate data quality issues. Matrix management of resources to address complex issues, to optimize the efficiency and data issues being documented, resolve data quality issues/problems, and collaborate with database developers to improve functional and non-functional design of a proprietary workflow application. This collaborative leader will work across ICDAD Data Management Executives, Local Data Officers, Data Stewards and Data Owners to support the data Quality issues management within ICDAD. This specialized role undertakes and conducts Data Quality Issue Management (DQIM) activities leading the support of documentation, analysis and remediation of Data Quality (DQ) Issues and Data Quality Exception Issues. This role will support the overall Data Quality Framework within the Data Governance program. The incumbent will work with the key business and technical stakeholders to ensure adherence to the DQIM Standard to utilize an SMBC proprietary workflow application as the central repository in support of the Americas Division.

Role Objectives

  • Lead communication of DQ Issue governance across the Americas Division with both business and technology partners

  • Lead evolution of Data Quality Issue Management tool based on Stakeholder feedback

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Data Domain Executives (EDME) on prioritization and resolution of DQ Issues

  • Ensure adherence to Data Quality Issue Management Standard

  • Partner with IT / JRIA to continuous enhance DQIM application

  • Lead prioritization and production deployment of DQIM releases while communicating to key stakeholders

  • Lead team of Analysts in reviewing DQ Issues with EDMEs to drive DQ Issue analysis & resolution

  • Evolve and refresh DQIM Standard and Procedures and address audits as needed

  • Lead the production of monthly summary and detailed reporting on data quality issues to senior management

  • Promote a culture of Data Quality across the firm (e.g. communications, training materials, knowledge cafes, etc.)

  • DQ Issues analysis: Identify, compare, and resolve Data Quality Issues, leading data quality working groups.

  • Lead the vetting of all Data Quality Issues with key stakeholders include Data Stewards.

  • Lead team in Functional and Non-Functional requirements documentation based on feedback from end-users for development (JIRA).

  • Ensure UAT test cases and testing support – work with Enterprise Data Quality Manager and Business stakeholders to validate enhancements based on acceptance criteria

  • DQ Issues analysis: Identify, compare, and resolve Data Quality Issues, leading data quality working groups

  • Lead the facilitation of documentation of business impact and mitigating controls for Data Quality Issues

  • Develop process improvements to increase operational efficiency

  • Ensure and develop training materials, documentation and visual queues

  • Provide Data Quality Issue Management training and presentations to key internal stakeholders/teams

  • Support Regulatory needs and facilitate DQ issues remediation

  • Support design of DQ Issues Management dashboard through JIRA

  • Support Globalization of the current DQ Issues management

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have prior experience with Data Quality Issue Management, including the documentation, root cause analysis, remediation of DQ Issues, and an understanding of Data Governance best practices.

  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations. Strong team player with excellent listening, interpersonal, facilitation, written, oral and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate concepts in both technical and user-friendly language to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders under pressure4Proven skills in MS Office suite, MS Excel (PowerBI) and MS Project and PowerPoint

  • Strong team player with excellent listening, interpersonal, facilitation, written, oral and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate concepts in both technical and user-friendly language to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood6Must be able to write simple and complex SQL queries (table joins, ETL) and perform analysis on data7Familiar with JIRA Issue and Project Tracking application, SDLC phases and process

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and proven ability to meet established deadlines with demonstrated ability successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders under pressure

  • Talent for quickly learning new tasks10· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills the ability to multi-task

  • Work Experience: 7 to 10 years of specialized experience in Financial Services

  • Knowledge of Data Issue Management workflows, Advanced Excel, Microsoft Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Word etc.), SQL, Power BI and Visio
