About the Position

The Airship Communications Coordinator serves as an ambassador of the Goodyear Blimp and company brand, delivering exceptional customer service in all encounters and acting as the primary contact for the local airship base. Through a mix of public relations and communications tactical support, community engagement activity execution at the local base, and Airship Operations support, the Airship Communications Coordinator will play a key role in leveraging the Goodyear Blimp to drive loyalty and engagement among Goodyear associates, regional community partners, media and consumers.

While the majority of this role’s work will take place at the assigned base, this individual will be required to travel with the Airship Operations crew as needed throughout the year in support of passenger flights, media interviews and other PR opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Global Communications content calendar with blimp-focused content by:

  • Assisting in the coordination of media interviews at the assigned base and around the local blimp's planned travel throughout the year, including drafting written responses and supporting interviews with pilots and other Airships associates.

  • Drafting and posting evergreen, educational blimp content for all internal, external and digital channels.

  • Assist in community management activities to foster engagement and follower growth for the Goodyear Blimp social channels. Assist in the execution of local content captures at the assigned base in support of the master Global Communications social media content calendar.

  • Participate in the Blimp Charitable Certificate Review Committee from an Airships perspective, reviewing and approving submissions local to the assigned base. Lead project execution for Goodyear’s annual Toys for Tots donation drive for the local base, including coordination with vendors and working with Airship Operations to ensure decorations and logistics are in place. Field and respond to community requests for blimp rides and facility tours for the local base.

  • Serve as an ambassador of the Goodyear brand and Airships program as the primary point of contact for the local base. Manage the local base schedule, including meetings/special events, tours and passenger flights. Serve as the host for passengers on scheduled passenger flight dates, facilitating arrivals, safety protocols and coordination with the crew. Travel with the airship for passenger flight and media interview coordination as needed. Produce value measurement reports and issue them to various stakeholders each month. Assist with other Airship administrative tasks as needed, including assisting the Airship Operations Coordinator with consolidating operations reports from the local base.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field, required.

  • 1+ years of experience working in a Communications role at a Business/Corporation/Non-Profit/Public Relations Firm - internships included.

  • Strong creative writing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint in particular).

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint.
