NJ Employer Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse in Wexford, Pennsylvania

Anticipated period of employment: Apr 15, 2025 to Nov 01, 2025

Crops/Commodities: tomatoes, corn, peppers, squash, and greens. Workers will transplant plants, hand cultivate and hand weed as needed. Workers will hand pick vegetables as they ripen. Considerable stooping and kneeling is required. Care must be taken to prevent damaging produce and plants. In addition to transplanting and harvesting the produce, workers may be required to perform variable tasks relating to produce production such as the following: irrigation, ditching, shoveling, hand hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, hand weeding and other tasks related to general farming. Workers may be asked to perform the following tasks: safe and efficient operation of tractors from 20 to 160 horsepower, with or without implements necessary for soil preparation, transplanting and plastificare use applications, including attaching and operating the implements as well as general maintenance of the equipment. Work may also include mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limitation power equipment may include tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators and other equipment. Workers will be expected to be able to operate agricultural equipment with or without direction. Fieldwork to include planting, equipment operation and driving tractors on steep mountain terrains. Plasticulture transplantation techniques and drip irrigation, preferably in hard clay soils. Set up and maintain electric fence, including clearing and placement in wooded areas. Work is to be done for long periods of time. Workers are expected to perform duties including boxing, weighing and loading of product. Workers will assist in loading trucks with packaged product weighing up to and including 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet for long periods of time. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related chemicals, etc. may affect workers' ability to perform the job. Workers are exposed to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in fields. Temperatures may range from 10 to 100 F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Workers may drive pick-up truck in fields. Workers with a clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and able to obtain an insurable driver's license may drive company vehicles. Workers with appropriate licenses and a valid doctor's certificate may transport other workers in pick-up trucks in conjunction with farming operations. Persons seeking employment as experienced Farm Worker must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors.
