Our Team

The Amazon Robotics Storage Technology Analytics team discovers insights in vast and varied robotic data to help our engineering teams understand how their technologies operate across Amazon’s network of warehouses. We collaborate with designers, software and hardware engineers, and operations teams to understand product requirements, make feature trade-offs, design, and operate new applications of Amazon Robotics technology. We conduct relevant, insightful analysis and communicate the results through white papers and presentations. Our methods include design of experiments, statistical modeling, financial analysis, and data visualization. We are passionate about building a highly scalable big data system to support our analytics, machine learning, and data applications.

What You Will Do

You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams, program managers, and leaders throughout the organization to collect, aggregate, and streamline data from external/internal sources for the newest fulfillment and storage technology, Sequoia. You will lead development of data pipelines and customer self-service tools to support projects aimed at improving the performance of this new robotic automation technology in Amazon's network of warehouses. In this role, you will use a combination of unified and disparate data sources to establish ETL pipelines, uncover insights delivered through automated data visualizations, and execute ad-hoc data analysis to influence the development and deployment of cutting edge robotic technology. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Program Managers to define and deliver world class analytics tools and insights to shape the future of robotic technology landscape.

What We Are Looking For

An enthusiastic, experienced data professional with a passion for delivering insightful and influential solutions to challenging and ambiguous problems. A practiced analyst, who uses data engineering, data visualization, and statistics to influence decision making in cross-functional teams. We are seeking an individual who can think holistically through compound problems to understand how systems work together to define and execute projects which drive improvements to robotic architecture or design.

Key job responsibilities

  • Bachelors in quantitative field (Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent)

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in areas such as data engineering, warehousing & ETL pipeline, data visualization, and analytics

  • Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Working knowledge in scripting with Python for programming

  • Knowledge in writing and optimizing SQL to handle extremely large datasets

  • Ability to consume and manipulate large data sets using AWS and articulate its business impact

  • Experienced with data visualization using Tableau or similar BI tools to create end-to-end dashboard solutions and reports which effectively convey results to a wide range of users

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

  • Experience in working and delivering end-to-end projects independently

About the team

We collaborate with designers, software and hardware engineers, and operations teams to understand product requirements, make feature trade-offs, design, and operate new applications of Amazon Robotics Storage technology. We conduct relevant, insightful analysis and communicate the results through white papers and presentations. Our methods include design of experiments, statistical modeling, machine learning, financial analysis, and data visualization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

    • 6+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data engineering, or data visualization role
    • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
    • Experience operating large data warehouses
    • Familiarity with AWS and big data analytic tools (EMR, AWS Athena)
    • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
    • Proven problem-solving skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills
    • Knowledge in building advanced visualizations in Tableau
    • Demonstrated ability to take end-to-end ownership of projects and drive results
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, and an ability to effectively communicate with business, leadership, and technical teams
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
