The Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.

General Overview:

Candidate is expected to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders in determining the utility of applying FISH to measure gene expression in single cells. Under the direction of the project mentor, the individual will design and perform FISH-based imaging and flow cytometry experiments with a variety of methods derived from literature. The candidate will then focus on designing probes against a panel of mRNA transcripts to characterize multiple cell lines used in an upstream process for a protein subunit vaccine.

The candidate is expected to function in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment. They will be expected to demonstrate the ability to communicate results of their work in both verbal and written formats. In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, the candidate will be expected to keep careful notes, comply with all required training, and maintain a focused attention on laboratory safety for themselves and their team.

Required Education and Experience:

• Candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA in: Chemical/Bio Engineering, Genetics, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or relevant discipline.

• Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to 6 months.

• Candidates should be highly motivated and driven. Willing to take initiative to learn new science and excited to implement new technologies.

• Candidates should be a strong team player. Candidate should be able to balance the needs of multiple disciplines when implementing new technologies.

• Candidates must have hands on experience with basic biology laboratory skills such as pipetting.

• Candidates should be comfortable using a Linux based operating system to run basic shell scripts and commands.

• Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Candidates should have good critical thinking skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Experience with FISH based measurements of RNA or DNA

• Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR and nucleic acid chemistry

• Experience with fluorescent imaging techniques and flow cytometry

• Experience with image analysis software in Python or Matlab

• Candidates should have a current G.P.A of 3.0 or higher

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00
