Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities. Responsibilities Manages and coordinates audit readiness strategic initiative projects. Works to improve business processes, internal controls, accountability, accuracy, reliability,documentation of financial information. Monitors compliance with accounting and operational policies. Performs trend analysis of audit related corrective actions and reports on audit readiness metrics. Provides financial technical advice and assistance in identifying problem areas. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing a variety of accounting, budgetary, administrative and/or analytical functions related to financial management; 2) utilizing an automated financial system to generate various financial reports; 3) conducting analysis of financial management and/or budgeting information; AND, 4) monitoring financial operations through systems such as General Funds Enterprise Business system (GFEBS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Support Financial Analysis Financial Management Financial Stewardship Project Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
