Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the director of facilities, preforms a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms and building areas.

Monday - Thursday, 6am - 12pm

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

  • Sweep, scrub, wax floors, vacuum and clean rugs and carpets; clean restrooms; empty and clean waste receptacles.

  • Wash and dust windows, walls and blinds.

  • Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain and order custodial equipment and supplies.

  • Preform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment; set up rooms for meetings.

  • May assist in training less experienced staff.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Attend department meetings

Additional Job Duties and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures.

  • Use of cleaning materials and disinfectants, equipment and tools used in custodial work.

  • Be aware of occupational hazards and remain compliant with standard safety practices.

  • Periodic use of power equipment, vacuums, floor polishers and ladders or stepstools.

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Ability to work with a team/collaborate with others.

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Requirements and Competencies:

Language Skills:

  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English, with all levels of management and co-workers.

  • Must be able to communicate and be responsive on various platforms (email, teams, etc.)

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

  • The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

  • The employee is frequently required to use the computer.

Work Environment:

  • May involve the use of oils and solvents.

  • Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)

  • Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

  • Safety Glasses are required

  • May require area specific safety training

  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.

  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.

  • May be exposed to dust, grease, odors and cleaning agents.
