In Precision Strike & Sensing Solutions, we design and manufacture state-of-the-art systems and technology that enable our customers to execute their precision strike missions.
We are seeking a Sr Prin Supplier Quality Engineer to lead the Supplier Quality function for the APKWS Thermal Battery Initiator product. This person will report to the Precision Strike Supplier Quality Manager and support the APKWS program. This person will be responsible for implementing quality management tools and processes to ensure suppliers deliver high-quality product to BAE Systems.
This position will involve 75% travel for first 6-12 months, reducing to 25-50% travel after supplier stability is achieved.
Responsibilities:
Provide on-site management of assigned critical suppliers to ensure conforming material is delivered on-time
Analyze supplier performance data and resolve systemic supplier issues (KPIs, Scorecards, etc) using known lean and 6S tools and CI methodology to prevent/minimize business impact from supplied material defects and achieve 100% quality performance
Lead problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate nonconformances
Conduct Production Process Verifications (PPV's) at supplier locations and participate in PPAP review process and other aspects of APQP
Communicate with program on supplier progress as well as risks and work collaboratively with cross-functional team
Support development activities for new design
The successful candidate:
A self-starter who identifies problems/challenges and takes initiatives to identify a solution. Ability to operate with limited direction to set focus for the supplier, and has a strong desire and mindset to drive actions and projects to closure.
Exhibits strong Emotional Intelligence, relates well with individuals at all levels, builds rapport, fosters relationships, and can collaborate with supplier in the spirit of mutual success. Motivates and influences team members to foster teamwork.
Strong communication skills to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations, as well as to communicate progress reports and findings to program counterparts. Know when to ask for help from larger program resources.
A problem solver who is able to lead a cross-functional team through targeted project to reduce defects and/or increase throughput; strong RCCA skills with experience leading and facilitating
Possesses a strong understanding of Quality Science tools (APQP/PPAP, 8D RCCA, Statistical Process Controls, Lean Six Sigma BB preferred)
Travel Requirements:
This position will involve 75% travel for first 6-12 months, reducing to 25-50% travel after supplier stability is achieved.
May work in Hudson, NH; Wayne, NH; Philadelphia, PA or York, PA.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor s Degree and 6-8 years of direct experience or 10-12 years of experience in lieu of a degree
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, specifications, requirements
Proficiency with Quality Science Tools including APQP/PPAP, 8D RCCA, Lean Six Sigma, and process auditing
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing and 8 years of direct experience, or related experience in Supplier Quality or Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement
Lean 6-Sigma Black Belt Certification preferred, Green Belt certification required with ability to achieve BB certification in 12 months
Project management experience preferred
Green Belt certification strongly preferred with ability to achieve BB certification in 12 months
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
