Aston Carter Senior Tax Accountant in Waukesha, Wisconsin
Overview: Aston Carter is partnering with a local manufacturing company to hire a Senior Tax Accountant. This person will be Responsible for sales and use tax compliance, preparing month-end close adjustments, assisting with sales and use tax audits, performing and documenting technical research, maintaining exemption certificate compliance, identifying and resolving tax exposures, and responding to tax department inquiries.
Description:
Responsible for timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns and reconciliations.
Maintain exemption certificate software and tax determination application. Identify where exposures exist and resolve
Address tax department inquiries from internal and external business partners
Assist with governmental sales and use tax audits
Assist with and ensure month-end close deadlines are met
Review the initial determination of taxation on purchase invoices and identify areas of opportunity. Perform reverse audits where needed.
Advise Sales & Use Tax Supervisor of areas of opportunity and strategies for minimizing tax exposures
Conduct technical research and documentation, as needed
Remain current on tax law changes and changes in the business activities of the company
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
3+ years sales and use tax experience in Corporate Tax or Public Accounting
Manufacturing industry experience preferred
Proficiency in SAP preferred
Analytical minded and strong attention to detail
