Job Description Summary

Join a global engineering team utilizing advanced design tools, test equipment and analysis techniques related to material property, component and system tests for a world leading medical equipment manufacturer.

Essential Responsibilities:

The successful candidate in this role will support the requests from all GE Healthcare product design, manufacturing, service, and sourcing teams associated with material property testing, engineering analysis, and planning/conducting rigorous reliability and verification tests on components and systems. There will be an emphasis on hands-on engineering working in a engineering lab environment. This role requires the interaction with global design engineering, service, manufacturing, and sourcing teams.

Main responsibilities for this role will be Material and Mechanical Engineering tests, data analysis and documenting results in a report and database. Looking for a well- rounded Material and/or Mechanical Engineer that can execute on a variety of tasks in a very dynamic environment as part of a cross functional team.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of test equipment for prototypes, performance testing, manufacturing needs and field issues.

  • Evaluate engineering material test plan requests and determine the best method/approach to achieve results.

  • Create, review, and execute development and reliability planning, testing, and analysis activities, and when needed coordinate resources and equipment needed to run engineering tests.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide innovative solutions to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Identify, select, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade laboratory test equipment.

  • Proactively resolve and escalate issues across functions regarding issues found during engineering development and tests.

  • Effectively communicates project status, issues, risks, and plans to senior management.

  • Able to operate in various mechanical systems, MCAD, FEA, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or 3 years of industry mechanical/materials engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of standard methods, drafting practices, mechanical modeling and drawing practices, and engineering analysis techniques.​

  • Knowledge of materials, testing, and/or manufacturing of fatigue limited components

  • Experience with polymers related to product design and testing.

Desired Characteristics

  • Good understanding of structural design, thermal analysis and electro-mechanical design

  • Working knowledge of GE systems- MyWorkshop, CREO, Ansys, MATLAB

  • High level understanding of electrical engineering and their design constraints

  • High level understanding of software and their use in testing systems

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, and execute projects/programs.

  • Ability to multi-task, both on projects within the Simulations, EMC, Safety teams and within the greater Labs team.

  • Someone that wants to grow in the role from entry level engineer to helping guide team testing strategy (Lead Engineer).

  • Global project experience

  • Ability to work hands on when creating testing systems.

  • Experience in Injection Molds, Sheet Metal, hands-on experience in Pro/ E, Windchill, Industrial design tools

  • Good understanding of global safety and performance standards for medical devices
