Job Description

Trek is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to support our product development team. This project manager will interact with the Product Managers, Directors, Engineers and Designers in a specified category to provide support and guidance on individual projects and overall portfolio planning. They will help to define and lock down the scope and parameters, with a focus on delivering all milestones on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate must be able to juggle multiple projects, follow-through on the details and be able to prioritize work. This role is located at Trek’s Headquarters in Waterloo, WI.

Key Responsibilities

Long Term Planning

  • Work with the Product Management Team and Directors to develop a long-term plan for their category.

Project Planning

  • Assist in defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget.

  • Develop a detailed plan for engineering projects.

  • Help develop the timeline of the projects.

  • Monitor the risk of the project and prepare plan B’s as necessary.

Lead Communication

  • Successfully manage the relationships between all stakeholders

  • Develop the best way to communicate project plans, weekly issues, changes and all critical points of managing a project.

  • Work closely with forecasting, supply chain, suppliers, engineering, product, and global teams that are involved throughout our product development process.

  • Report and escalate to management as needed.

Prioritize Projects

  • Ensure all projects are kicked off and delivered at the appropriate time of the year.

  • Present and review with Product the launch dates to ensure they meet the goals of our Program Management team.

Process Development

  • Communicate any outliers of the process to the Director of Program Management for approval and documentation.

  • Consistently look for ways to be more efficient in the process of developing products.

  • Review lessons learned and update the process as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and use of the project management tools and software

  • Experience managing new product development projects

  • Background in project, resource and portfolio planning

  • Extremely strong communication skills

  • Engineering background (a plus)

  • MCPM certification or PMP (a plus)

  • Ability to Travel Internationally and inside the US two to three times per year
