Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center Patient Safety Technician / Patient Monitor / Video Monitor in Waterford, Wisconsin

Responsible for providing constant patient observation through an internal monitoring station, and monitoring of assigned high risk patients to support safety and prevention of injury. Observation includes more than one patient at a time at the monitoring station.

  • The Safety Technician must be able to clearly see all patients for which the team member is responsible for at all times.

  • Must be able to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in identifiable risk behaviors.

  • The Safety Technician will notify the unit nursing team through communication devices or alarms if the patient requires immediate assistance.

  • Must be able to utilize the technology required for visualization and interventions for safe patient care in accordance with departmental standards, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of computers and technology.

  • Superior communication skills.

  • Troubleshoots monitoring difficulties with central stations, alerting vendor/bio-med of any software or hardware problems.

  • Reports any physical or behavioral changes promptly to nursing staff responsible for the care of the patient and ensures follow-up actions.

  • Records interventions and patient data.

  • Always maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Respects patient privacy needs.

  • Conducts self in a professional manner, using accountability in communication to resolve problems in an open, timely manner.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $17.50-18.50

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

  • Experience: Relevant experience preferred. Previous experience in the acute care setting. Previous direct patient care experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Nursing Assistant certification (CNA) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communication. Use of hands to grasp/handle/feel, Vision-color, Hearing, Speaking.

  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.

  • Basic computer, data entry, typing, filing and organization skills required.

  • May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, and cold.

  • Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.

  • Other duties as assigned.
