Robert Half Property Accountant in Washington, District Of Columbia
Description
Our client, a rapidly growing and successful real estate development and investment firm is searching for their new Property Accountant. This role will have the opportunity to work with and directly support their Controller, who brings great knowledge of the real estate industry and has been an integral part of their deals and growth. This exciting Property Accountant opportunity in the real estate investment and property management industry is based in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities for this new Property Accountant role will include:
• Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of bank reconciliations
• Analyzing property-level financial statements and associated trends
• Maintaining the general ledger for real estate investments and partnerships
• Assisting with special projects and taking on additional duties as assigned
• Preparing journal entries including accruals as well as balance sheet, income statement, and subledger reconciliations
• Processing funding requests as well as investor distributions, and account transfers
• Providing supporting schedules and documents required to support business transactions
• Supporting external audit requests and tax return preparation with outside accountants.

Requirements
• BS in Accounting/Finance or related area
• 1 or more years of hands-on accounting experience including with month end close procedures
• Proficiency in Yardi or MRI Software a plus
• Experience in the real estate or private equity industry is desired
• Prior public accounting experience is a plus
