Summary:

The Night Shift- Dump Truck Driver is responsible for hauling various materials such as asphalt, milling, dirt and salt on federal, state, and local jobs located in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safe operation of dump truck on highways and other thoroughfares within DC-MD-VA,
  • Drives truck to transport material/equipment to and from specified destinations,
  • Inspect truck pre and post trip by completing DVIR,
  • Secure load during transit, load, and unload trucks,
  • Knowledgeable of Federal Regulations,
  • Maintains and checks trucks equipment and supplies to assure roadworthiness,
  • Notifies supervisor immediately of needed or anticipated repairs,
  • Ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order,
  • Verifies the types of materials being hauled as well as their weight.,
  • Clearly communicates with supervisor/dispatcher daily of any issues that may arise,
  • Keeps truck clean as often as possible,
  • Must be able to drive and operate vehicle in inclement weather such as rain or snow,
  • Understands and carries out written and verbal instructions,
  • Work independent of supervision to complete assigned tasks and maintain schedule,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED,
  • Must work snow and inclement weather,
  • Possess a valid and current Class A/B CDL,
  • Previous experience one (1) year operating dump truck with manual or automatic transmissions,

``` - Must possess one (1) years of experience on major roadways during inclement weather, such as snow and ice storms with operating a snow plow and spreader, - Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete appropriate paperwork, - Possess valid DOT medical card, - COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended, - Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.

Working Conditions:

  • This jobmay require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.
  • This job requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
  • This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include, but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
