Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) business is expanding, and the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The CO+I, Datacenter (DC) business is looking to fill the critical role of Senior Director Critical Environment - Spares . The CO+I Core Datacenter Services (CDS) organization is responsible for delivering Datacenter standardization for Microsoft’s cloud DC Operations. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

The role aligns with the Core Datacenter Procurement (CDP) team which supports the Datacenter Critical Environment (CE). As a member of the Core Datacenter Procurement (CDP) Leadership team, you will be responsible for the Spare Parts and Warranty strategy for Microsoft Datacenters globally. The role involves direct engagement with our partners across our Datacenter organization as well as our internal teams within boarder Microsoft.

As a key enabler of Microsoft’s Cloud growth, the Senior Director Critical Environment - Spares is tasked with driving a world class supply chain operation with the focus on customer service, global scale, and cost optimization. This leader will be responsible for building transforming the existing Spares and Warranty supply chain by ensuring that the infrastructure and capabilities are built into the future roadmap which will increase customer satisfaction, drive agility, and provide cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a robust and efficient CE Spares Program that ensures availability, reliability, and compliance of the CE equipment across the CO+I Operations DC fleet.

  • Establish and monitor inventory level governance process to monitor, review, and audits inventory levels.

  • Establish metrics and dashboard, such as fill rate, inventory turnover, and obsolescence.

  • Define and implement the minimum and dynamic inventory limits for each CE spare part category.

  • Define based on demand, lead time, and risk analysis.

  • Develop and maintain the CE Spares Standards documentation that specifies the selection criteria, specifications, and sources of CE spare parts.

  • Define procurement, storage, and disposal requirements and procedures.

  • Optimize the warranty management process for the CE spare parts.

  • Implement and track the warranty management system for the CE spares to maximize warranty claims and reduce the total cost of ownership, tracking savings and recovery.

  • Achieve and sustain 100% compliance to the standard operating procedure (SOP) and processes for the procurement, storage, distribution, and disposal of the CE spare parts.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, logistics, or operations-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of cloud supply chain, repair operations, or hardware manufacturing experience.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, motivate, and develop a diverse results oriented team.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • 15+ years of cloud supply chain, repair operations, or hardware manufacturing experience.

  • 15+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, motivate and develop a diverse results-oriented team.

  • Experience as an inclusive leader with history of building diverse high performing global teams. 

  • Experience with collaborating and influencing stakeholders, inspiring momentum in colleagues spanning multiple levels. 

  • Greenbelt and/ or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Certified.

  • Lean, Six Sigma, Digital Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement skills.

  • Statistical/financial acumen with expertise in fields related to business intelligence.

  • Proven track record of a bias for action, solving business problems through innovation and simplification. 

  • Experience developing strategies that include Services, Engineering, Operations, Sourcing, Quality, and Product Development. 

  • Demonstrated change leadership with successes in leading large-scale process and organization transformation.  Planning transformation experience preferred. 

Fulfillment & Logistics M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
