Medical Director, Inflammation (Rheumatology)

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will support the implementation of Global Medical strategy and tactics including evidence generation, medical communication, and external engagement, under the guidance of the Global Medical Affairs Lead.

Key core responsibilities include:

  • Assist the B-Cell Autoimmune Global Medical Affairs Team in the execution of the global product medical strategy, via implementation of the Global Medical Plan.

  • Liaise with affiliate Medical teams to support implementation of the global strategy in local plans

  • Support global communication efforts through leading publications, partnering to deliver impactful medical field resources, and assisting with global medical field team training

  • Provide strategic direction and medical support for RWE study design and execution

  • Provide medical support to cross-functional partners to support global results

  • Support synthesis of scientific and clinical insights from key markets and translate them into actionable strategies

  • Facilitate scientific engagements across a broad range of stakeholders, including but not limited to meetings with key opinion leaders, professional societies, and patient advocacy groups, and at advisory board meetings

  • Lead medical congress preparations, including logistics / medical field coordination and engagement with external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of medical affairs experiences and/or clinical research experience and/or basic science research in Rheumatology or related medical subject area experience

OR

Master’s degree and 8 years of medical affairs experiences and/or clinical research experience and/or basic science research in Rheumatology or related medical subject area experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of medical affairs experience and/or clinical research experience and/or basic science research in Rheumatology or related medical subject area experience

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in rheumatology, immunology, and autoimmune conditions involving B-cell dysfunction

  • Demonstrated ability as a medical expert in a complex matrix environment

  • Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with understanding of other functions; including, but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Safety, Regulatory, Value & Access, and Medical Affairs

  • Skilled at effectively presenting ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication

  • Skilled at stakeholder engagement and cultivating meaningful relationships, including leading scientific exchange with external medical community (e.g., OLs, advocacy groups, payers)

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues

  • Experience in regional/local medical practice and healthcare ecosystems

  • Scientific publication experience (developing manuscripts and/or congress abstracts)

  • In-depth understanding of the scientific method and clinical applications based on medical, scientific and practical rationale

  • Familiarity with concepts of clinical research and clinical trial design, including biostatistics

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP), region regulations and guidelines, and applicable international regulatory requirements

  • Familiarity of local pharmaceutical industry and legal/health system environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
