We are seeking resumes for aSr. Buyer(1 Opening) in our Wallula, WA facility.

Description of role:

Works with the Fiber Procurement Manager on effective sourcing of the Wallula Mill’s 1.5 million ton per year wood fiber requirements. Responsibility in planning, managing, and reporting wood fiber flows, certification, quality, costs, and inventories for the mill. Responsible for forest certification; including Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI), and Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Principle Accountabilities:

Manages the day to day shipments of raw wood fiber into the mill, including working closely with the wood yard crew responsible for unloading trucks/rail cars/barges.

Serves as principal contact as needed for fiber suppliers and fiber transportation providers on any changes in supplier production plans, PCA’s delivery requirements, and any questions/issues regarding individual loads.

Responsible for monitoring the flow of information from Wallula’s fiber testing system and for taking immediate action to correct any discrepancies in moisture or quality information.

Visits fiber suppliers as necessary to work with them on fiber quality issues and to support the Fiber Procurement Manager in price/contract negotiations.

Manages the reporting on fiber quality versus cost (RAVE).

Manages the record keeping system necessary to support PCA’s certification with FSC, SFI, and PEFC chain of custody requirements.

Perform monthly reporting of credit bank and year end corporate statistical reporting.

Support a nnual SFI Procurement and Chain of Custody audits.

Attend WA, ID, MT, and OR SIC meetings as needed.

Conduct annual supplier audits and in woods harvest inspections.

Coordinate annual employee certification training.

Actively participate in FRA program, including data reporting.

Conduct detailed fiber statistical and analytical data reporting.

Manage laser survey program and maintain Log Inventory Management System data.

Perform fuel surcharge calculations.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, material flow management, logistics/transportation, or related.

Must be able to travel frequently and possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor degree in Environmental Management, Business, or Forestry.

Wood/fiber procurement experience.

High volume, bulk commodity flow experience.

The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience with and competency in report writing, inventory management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to function under changing conditions.

Ability to use discretion in setting priorities and making decisions in the absence of direct supervision.

Ability to build strategic working relationships and manage conflict.

Negotiation and change management skills.

Advanced analytical skills and demonstrated competence with information technology and tools, applying those tools to complex cost/logistic problems.

Must have knowledge and skills in use of computer systems with specific experience in MS Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Pay and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is from $83200 to $124800.

Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life, and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods. Employees are automatically enrolled in PCA’s 401k retirement plan at the time of hire. Employees are also eligible for up to 120 hours of vacation (prorated) and eleven (11) paid holidays per calendar year.
