Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Ethics and Compliance for ISC2 plays a crucial role in leading the development, implementation, and compliance with the ISC2 Code of Professional Conduct. The ISC2 Code of Professional Conduct will augment the existing ISC2 Code of Ethics and provide authoritative guidance to ensure that the practice of cybersecurity professionals adheres to the principles of Integrity, Objectivity, Competence and Due Care, Confidentiality and Conduct. As an independent contributor the primary role will be to lead a cross functional team of ISC2 colleagues and cyber experts to create and deliver ethical practice guidance to cybersecurity professionals via various formats and channels. This role requires a strong combination of ethical practice and compliance expertise, volunteer and SME management, project management, cross-functional leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the Code of Professional Conduct through effective recruitment and management of subject matter experts that represent the global cybersecurity profession.

  • Establish organizational compliance function for the Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Support a Board-level volunteer ISC2 member ethical compliance taskforce.

  • Oversee and promote the organization's global ethics and compliance function.

  • Establish and implement guidance to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance with the Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Identify and communicate to key audiences the Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Develop and deliver employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related practice topics.

  • Conduct compliance monitoring, investigations, and remediations of complaints and appeals.

  • Manage the administration of confidential reporting systems for stakeholders to disclose violations of the Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders on progress, challenges, and solutions.

  • Prioritize the issuance of Code guidance by performing landscape scans of authoritative issuances and gathering market insight from members and professionals across key markets on greatest needs and where cybersecurity professionals would most benefit from assistance in implementation and/or compliance.

  • Assess and communicate alignment opportunities within other ISC2 functions such as advocacy to ensure Code supports current and future member needs but align to and advance ISC2’s position within key stakeholder relationships.

  • Ensure all content reflects the global perspective, complies ISC2 DEI requirements and aligns with organization’s content strategy.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external cybersecurity experts to support content development and delivery initiatives for implementation guidance and other professional development initiatives.

  • Represent ISC2 at industry events and other meetings to build awareness of implementation guidance, gain industry insights, and support organizational efforts.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity experts throughout the organization to support the development of content that addresses the needs of global cybersecurity community.

  • Serve as ethical practice subject matter expert within cross-functional teams as needed to support professional development and other organizational initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Significant experience in the development and compliance of ethical practice guidance.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Will consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 8+ years of experience serving in an ethics/compliance role including 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in the development and compliance of ethical practice guidance.

  • Experience effectively working cross-functionally, with a global team.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Work extended hours or overtime, when necessary

  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods

  • Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and monitor computer screens

  • Up to 10% travel may be required
