Senior Professional Database Administrator Location: Remote Duration: 7 months Description: Job Posting: If you are interested in being a part of an Information Technology Team that works hard to find solutions and provide the best user experience for our students, faculty, and staff, all while still having fun with co-workers, then consider working for client’s Outreach and Online Education Information Technology (OOE IT (Information Technology)). The Senior Database Administrator will be a creative, analytical, and innovative individual who is passionate about database administration and solutions. They will be working with other system administrators, developers, database administrators, quality analysts, solution architects, business analysts, data analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality data products are being implemented to meet the needs of the organization. The candidate should have a solid understanding of database administration, design, and management of database systems, and should be able to perform quality control, transform data via ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Load) processes, configure cloud and on-prem environments, understand and architect a data lake, and work with team members to ensure a high-quality product. They will work with other DBAs (Database administrators), system administrators, and developers to maintain the existing data products that have been developed on-premises and in the cloud to build out a data lake within Azure to move data planned for migration to the cloud. This position will be familiar with Azure database development and be able to mentor others on migrating and building pipelines, test plans, and maintaining source control within the Azure platform. You would be expected to lead teams to identify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data and information to plan cloud migration and develop architecture artifacts. SQL DBA (Database administrators) Skills Data migration skills and working experience with ETL concepts and tools Demonstrates advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and (S3, RDC, Redshift, Big Query, Azure Synapse, DevOps, Azure Data Factory, MongoDB, MySQL, NoSQL, SQL Server, etc.). Develop and implement administrative, automation, and data integration scripts utilizing various programming languages. Ensure database optimization, database integrity (relational integrity), and integrity of the transaction profile in verifying with project design. Install, configure, and upgrade database management software (DBMS) and related products based on project needs. Participate in On-Call Data Architecture Skills Led the database portion of projects to migrate databases to new database systems and operating system platforms and to use DBMS advancements to improve processes. Integrate systems through database design. Ability to create data system architecture diagrams Ability to document data architecture that shows current and future state. Conduct root cause analysis for issue resolution and documentation through meaningful explanation of failures with examples Brainstorming and implementing new ways to verify and test data Incorporate testing automation and monitoring through Azure DevOps test plans with developers Contributes to setting standards for database objects' definition, security, and integrity and ensures conformance to these standards. Knowledge of setting up DBAAS Project Skills Work with product owner or business analyst to fully understand business requirements and convert them into appropriate technical solutions Ability to break down work into manageable tasks and convey them to the project team Ability to provide hour estimates of individual tasks Regularly provide task updates and progress percentages Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to define and measure business process objectives, goals, and key performance indicators related to projects for transition operations. Further Skills Addressing current data documentation gaps Assist in planning and implementing a Data Lake ecosystem Develop new techniques, concepts, and approaches and apply them to moderately complex and strategic projects. Communicates internally within the working unit and with the University IT Department. Communicate with external audiences for scheduling/coordination. Collaborate with product owner, and stakeholders to define and measure business process objectives, goals, and key performance indicators related to projects for transition operations. Coaches others in using appropriate strategies for resolving IT issues; learning best practices and proposing and evaluating viable solutions.
