This is an SeniorBIM Designerposition. Theposition requiresa comprehensive understanding of 2D and 3DCAD software and a demonstrated knowledge of3D design capabilities. This position also requiresa good understanding of engineering drawingdevelopment in the area of water and wastewaterfacilities design and the associated infrastructure.Job duties will also include the coordinationof drawing production activities between alldisciplines at the project level.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following. Other dutiesmay be assigned.

  • In accordance with any BIM requirements, develop scaled civil site plans with grading, paving, and drainage from various media including sketches, PDF’s, and CAD drawings provided by engineers and senior design staff

  • Understands survey files, with the ability to generate Digital Terrain Models (DTM)

  • Understands how to edit surfaces including surface boundaries, creating a new surface from various surfaces, and tying proposed surface into existing surfaces

  • Creates Volume Surfaces within Autodesk Civil 3D and knows how to calculate cut/fill volumes/generate reports with an understanding of sloping grades

  • Establishes piping alignments to generate plan and profile 2D drawings for both site and linear infrastructure projects

  • Coordination of modeling and drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level

  • Provide clash detection reporting with the use of Autodesk Navisworks or Bentley Navigator

  • Provide model interrogation data reports (e.g., quantities, parts list, etc.)

  • Provide quality checking of drafted products and conformance with modeling and drawing production standards including project specific CAD/BIM requirements

  • Generate 2D drawing views from 3D design models and develop into final contract drawings

  • Produces engineering documents and related material with minimal direction and supervision

  • Provide basic CAD/BIM technical support for junior level staff

  • Convert data between MicroStation and AutoCAD

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in engineering design

  • Highly motivated self-starter, results-driven and teamwork oriented

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Detail oriented, organized and have good follow-up skills

  • Working knowledge of industry pipe standards such as AWWA and ANSI B16

  • Working knowledge of survey practices, including georeferencing utilizing grid/ground coordinate systems

  • Advanced level of proficiency in the development of 2D civil design drawings

  • Extensive knowledge of 3D design concepts

  • Advanced knowledge of BIM as it relates to civil design for piping, valves, and in-line components

  • Working understanding of construction methods for piping installation

  • Advanced knowledge in Autodesk Civil 3D both in grading and piping networks

  • Experience using Grading Creation Tools and Feature Lines within Autodesk Civil 3D (including editing tools like feature line offsets, quick feature line edit, set feature grade, etc.) to create 3D surfaces

  • Knows how to create/use Data Shortcuts and Data References in Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Proficient with AutoCAD or MicroStation 2D and 3D functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ArcGIS and it’s integration with Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Knowledge of Corridors and Assemblies within Autodesk Civil 3D

  • Field experience in either surveying or inspection

  • Experience in detail design of water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure

  • Associate degree in related technical field

Pay Range

$46.00 to $54.00 per hour. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
