Job Description

The Research Technician I, under general supervision, is responsible for assisting with research projects.

Responsibilities:-Performs general farm maintenance: repair and build fences, repair and build roads, repair and install water lines, repair buildings, etc.-Operate farm tractors and equipment: mowing, planting winter pasture, moving hay, discing, spraying, performing daily maintenance, etc.-Routine maintenance of trucks, tractors and equipment: change mower blades, engine oil, filters, grease equipment, change flats and batteries.-Assist with research projects as time permits with feeding cows, pruning trees, planting, harvesting crops, spraying, etc.-Welding and cutting operations: repairing equipment, repairing and building cattle pens, etc.-Provides support to research projects in operating various specialized equipment to implement, harvest and record data.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Two years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

-Ability to work independently.

-Proficient in English.

-Working knowledge of o peration and maintenance of farm equipment.

-Working knowledge of l ight construction and repair of fencing and structures.

Other Requirements:Must be able to lift or move heavy loads. Requires working in inclement weather and working outdoors as needed.
