Bureau of the Fiscal Service Lead IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) in United States

The position is in the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Information & Security Services, Middleware Division, Database Management Branch, as a Lead Information Technology Middleware Applications Administrator, providing 24x7x365 tech support for systems and services supporting enterprise Middleware Platform as a Service infrastructures that host agency and customer data. Responsibilities As a Lead IT Specialist (SYSADMIN), you will: - Ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services. - Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, priorities, and or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. - Perform the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software supporting the enterprise middleware platform as a service provided within Fiscal Services data centers and secure areas. - Perform incident and problem management associated with the enterprise middleware platform as a service infrastructure hosted within Fiscal Service data centers and secure areas. This includes monitoring performance/availability, evaluating incidents/problems, and providing corrective actions to enterprise middleware platform as a service technology to resolve any issues. - Install the necessary enterprise middleware platform as a service hardware/software and configure the hardware/software to ensure the security, interoperability and interconnectivity to and from each component. Requirements Conditions of Employment A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrated accomplishment of project assignments requiring a wide range of knowledge of system requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Experience as a database administrator or system administrator responsible for implementing and supporting database management systems (DBMS) or other software that monitors, scans, and patches in enterprise scale IT infrastructure; AND - Experience in the technical planning, engineering, deployment, and support of DMBS or other IT systems; AND - Experience with distributed platform database management systems, such as DB2, SQL Server or Oracle or a wide range of server Operating System, software, management, and remote support technologies and techniques. AND In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below. - Attention to Detail, such as reviewing and following installation guides and standard operating procedures for impact on existing Database Management IT enterprise system technologies; AND - Customer Service, such as providing technical support pertaining to Database Management IT enterprise system service; AND - Oral Communication, such as serving as a Database Management IT enterprise systems technical point-of-contact; AND - Problem Solving, such as providing 24x7x365 technical support for an enterprise Database Management system. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
