Summary If you have experience with grants policy and have strong training and leadership skills, then consider a career as a Lead Grants Management Specialist within the Office of Grants Administration of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)! Responsibilities Create and/or implement foundational training modules for new and junior staff. Identify any areas of training that must be updated to incorporate new or changed policies and procedures and to ensure there is information consistency across the grants management staff. Serve as a secondary reviewer of NCI grant awards prepared by grants management specialists. Serve as the primary point of contact for Other Transaction Award recipients, including participating in any joint meetings, discussion panels and contributing to the resolution of questions or inquiries. Serve as a resource to the OGA Management Team by providing guidance on technical aspects of Other Transactions through questions and analyzing, assessing, and making appropriate recommendations. Advise both recipient institutions and scientific program staff of the services available from OGA and the administrative policies governing the Federal grants and other transaction award process. Serve as a technical resource for pre-award risk assessment on grant awards. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: evaluating the management aspects of grant or cooperative agreement applications; providing training or guidance to new or junior level grants management staff; interpreting and providing technical assistance regarding grants or Other Transaction Awards policies or procedures; resolving controversial post-award problems surrounding the monitoring of grants or cooperative agreements; and developing criteria and standards for the planning, implementation and evaluation of grant or cooperative agreement proposals.
