Position Summary:

This position supports programmatic strategies for the Plant Demolition & Retirement (PD&R) organization, within CCP, that include components that are very complex and overlap in the areas of financial analysis, technical evaluation, and operational impacts. The Program Manager is expected to identify opportunities for fleet improvement, assemble appropriate cross-functional teams to develop solutions, and implement the solution once approved by Senior Leadership. The Program Manager will be responsible for the governance, oversight, technical leadership, regulatory guidance, strategic planning, coordination, and implementation within the fleet. The incumbent must possess the technical acumen to conduct analysis and assess design program details, proficiency in financial or economic analysis to optimize results and recommend adjustment to program initiatives, all in an effort to achieve defined improvement results. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead the preparation of complex reports and presentations. The position requires a high level of coordination skills as well as the ability to manage complex technical projects involving other departments, outside consultants and industry groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the PD&R risk registers in the SWORD tool, coordinates High Risk Review stakeholder meetings and facilitates routine meetings such as Project Status Report reviews, weekly status calls, and annual executive governance meeting.

  • Leads the development and scoping of new improvement initiatives across the fleet to maintain compliance with standards and company governance and policies.

  • Maintains the inventory of Dismantlement Studies to support jurisdictional rate case preparations. Works with Asset Accounting, Project Controls, and Finance to support cost of Removal budgeting and planning.

  • Provide support for PD&R during dismantlement studies, decommissioning, and project execution activities. Create tools and templates to perform gap analysis on important programmatic areas and prioritize recommendations that will lead to improvement action plans.

  • Provide governance, oversight, and support to business unit leaders and project managers. Participates in industry meetings/conferences to benchmark and advance understanding of best practices in plant demolition. Provide routine reporting of program metrics to demonstrate the overall program health and impact on the fleet.

Required/Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree

  • 6 years related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 6 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 10 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering/Science/Business

  • PE License

  • Working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principles of fossil generating station systems, equipment, and processes

  • Contract management, scheduling, cost reporting, safety regulations (Duke Energy and OSHA), knowledge of various codes such as ASME, ACI, NEC, ANSI, and PMCoE Policies

  • Strong collaboration/interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills

  • Business acumen and ability to interpret regulatory language

Working Conditions:

  • Primary location will be the Charlotte corporate office.

  • Occasional travel to corporate/regional offices and generating stations.
