What we want

Diagnostic Laboratory Technician II, in the area of GI Histopathology, is responsible for independently performing routine diagnostic processing of formalin-fixed paraffin animal tissues for microscopic evaluation, operating various histology laboratory equipment and compiling and evaluating data. They may provide technical assistance in research projects.

The salary for this position is $22.60/hr

Other Requirements and Factors:

Persons in this position are considered essential. May require work during holidays or TAMU closures.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One year experience in diagnostic laboratory, laboratory research or scientific work.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ensure attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • HT (Histotechnician) or HTL (Histotechnologist) Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a histopathology lab. Processing formalin-fixed paraffin tissues for microscopic evaluation

Responsibilities:

  • Histology: Performs histology duties which include processing and embedding animal tissues, cutting paraffin blocks & staining, cover-slipping, and scanning slides.

  • Paperwork & Customer Service: Processes paperwork involving histology submissions, including generating worksheets and emails to/from clients and pathologists.

  • Supplies: Maintains adequate supplies and reagents as needed for efficient laboratory function. Completes order and receipt logs to assure timely and correct arrival of orders.

  • Training: May train technicians and student workers

  • Maintenance: Maintains equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
