GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A great place to live for those interested in outdoor activities as Cheyenne is just 30 minutes from Curt Gowdy State Park, about an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park, and about 90 minutes from Glendo State Park and Reservoir. Located just 45 miles from two (2) Division 1 schools, the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University, for those who may want to pursue additional educational opportunities. Outdoor activities include hunting, fishing, camping, boating, backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, and just a 90-minute drive to Denver International Airport.

This position is an office support specialist in the Land Quality Division’s Uranium Recovery Program (URP). Under limited supervision, the successful candidate will perform a variety of office management, records management, communication, scheduling, and general organizational duties. This person will be a self-starter with a great work ethic, organizational skills and customer service abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Act as the main point of contact for the URP. Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed.

  • Performs administrative and support duties that include filing, scanning and tracking of information.

  • Assist staff with travel arrangements, training and conference registrations, and voucher preparation.

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of assigned projects or functions, as well as the office maintenance and inventory.

  • Help with planning, coordinating, and facilitating meetings.

  • Create, edit, and peer review reports and documents for management.

  • Format and print documents for signature.

  • Management and oversight of office equipment and supplies.

  • Management of digital records.

  • Management and tracking of training records for review by the URP manager

  • Responsible for processing, filing, maintenance, and quality control of records and documents.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum education of a High School diploma, along with 4 years of progressive work experience in office management, records, and communication.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of records processing and maintenance procedures and systems.

  • Knowledge of the preparation of reports and correspondence.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the agency and each respective division/program.

  • Knowledge of office organization, methods and standards.

  • Knowledge of computer applications.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associate's Degree (typically in Business)

Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Support Specialist I

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business Office Communications) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Office Support Specialist I

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.

  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
