Primary Function
A. O. Smith Corporation is seeking an experienced, business-oriented corporate attorney to join our fourteen-attorney Legal Department as Associate General Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, this attorney will be involved in a broad range of legal, corporate, compliance and department issues, with a focus on legal and regulatory compliance consulting for the corporation and business units, as well as corporate compliance program and litigation. The Director of Global Compliance, Director of Trade Compliance and Assistant General Counsel – Head of Litigation will report to this role.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary contact for SBUs on Legal and Regulatory compliance advise, including distribution, competition, labeling, product certification and compliance , tariff, trade, environmental and DOE, EPA and local regulatory compliance
Direct and oversee Global Corporate Compliance Program , focus ing on training, audit, policy creation, code of conduct and investigations , including overs ight of the China compliance program
O versee all litigation and dispute resolution matters , with the Assistant General Counsel – Litigation reporting to this role.
Direct and oversee outside counsel and other subject matter experts on a wide variety of legal, regulatory and operational matters

Qualifications
Juris Doctorate
10+ years of related experience, in-house and experience at a major law firm required.
Demonstrate strong and pragmatic business and legal acumen
Experience advising a global, publicly traded manufacturing company, preferably whose products are regulated by DOE, EPA, or other regulatory agency.
Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.
