Red Hat Manager, Revenue Accounting, Regional in Singapore

The Red Hat APAC Revenue Accounting team is seeking a Manager, Revenue Accounting, to join us in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and compliance activities of the APAC Revenue Accounting team related to the risks involved with complex revenue arrangements. You'll need to communicate clearly and effectively with other groups inside and outside of the Finance team, including Deal Desk, Sales, Legal, Project Accounting, Sales Operations, IT Support, and product owners. We will need you to be highly motivated with creative problem-solving, analytical skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles under U.S. GAAP, especially regarding revenue recognition.

What you will do:

  • Manage the day-to-day functions of the APAC Revenue team

  • Partner with Red Hat’s leaders in Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, Finance, and Product teams to construct sales contracts that align business objectives with accounting requirements

  • Provide sound technical revenue accounting guidance to your team and your stakeholders

  • Review of detailed revenue recognition checklists on significant and complex revenue contracts

  • Manage the monthly revenue accounting process, including journals, reconciliations, revenue sub-ledger close, and reporting and disclosures

  • Act independently on process improvement initiatives

  • Coach and develop highly effective associates

  • Work with the Project Accounting team in setting up and reviewing services projects to ensure appropriate revenue recognition.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and processes to ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley policies.

  • Communicate with internal and external audit teams to support quarterly reviews and annual audit activities.

  • Review complex deal structures to ensure compliance with revenue recognition guidelines.

  • Work closely with other departments inside and outside of Finance on special projects as needed.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; master's degree is a plus

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification with 6+ years of progressive experience, including Big 4 or a combination of public accounting and industry

  • Experience with accounting guidance in ASC 606 – Revenue from Contracts with Customers

  • Great interpersonal communication skills

  • Highly productive and motivated with a great work ethic and commitment to excellence

  • High sense of accountability

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities by identifying and engaging appropriate resources to deliver under given time constraints and deadlines

  • Willingness to work extra hours during quarter-end and other high-volume times when necessary

  • Experience with software and technology companies is a plus

  • Experience with Oracle, RevStream, and SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) is a plus
