Job Description

We are looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Engineer to troubleshooting the functionality of the Application Database hosted In the US for corporate clients and on every single ship for the shipboard users with the Support team. This position will be full-time and remote work set-up.

What You’ll Do

  • The Database support Engineer will be responsible for providing Oracle DB support to support engineers

  • The DB support engineer will work in close collaboration with the support team and product team, to ensure all the Marine Maintenance Asset Management and Procurement applications are functional and usable by the shipboard and shoreside client's team employees

  • The Database engineer will assist in troubleshooting the functionality of the Application Database hosted In the US for corporate clients and on every single ship for the shipboard users with the Support team. He will form an integral part of 24x7 Support team and will be entrusted with the Pager Duty on-Call responsibility

  • Product Health: Partners with and collaborates closely with stakeholders from the various teams within IT to ensure that performance tools, configuration tools and monitoring tools meet the needs of her/his products. Responsibilities include:

  • Incident Management. Is responsible to react quickly to IT incidents with the goal to restore systems/applications back to normal service operation as per product SLA’s and to minimize the impact on business operations

  • Application Performance Management (APM). Ensures the proactive monitoring and management of performance and availability using client's approved tools to detect, diagnose, resolve & document complex Database performance problems

  • Standardization- Works with his team members in ensuring the product configurations are managed in compliance with established fleet

  • Change Control Governance – Executes all planned production changes after thoroughly testing the changes in a non-production environment

  • Production Operations Readiness – Assists in executing the operational readiness review for verifying all product implementations completed by the Product Team as part of the transition to production.

  • Database responsibilities:

  • Will be called to create ad hoc scripts to resolve problem issue through backend

  • Troubleshoot internal database relationships and integrations with other Product databases

  • Deconstruct and manipulate constraints, triggers and procedures

  • Load data into the database through scripting

  • Be able to read complex triggers and understand the usage

  • Ensuring continued functionality of a program during maintenance and testing of software

  • Documenting each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science OR Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional

  • 2 to 3 Years as an Oracle Database engineer for a multinational company or supporting more than 100 users

  • Certified Oracle Database engineer experienced with legacy versions 10G, 11G of Oracle

  • 1 to 3 Years' Experience working with Enterprise level Windows, Linux infrastructure environments

  • 1 to 3 Years' Experience working in an agile environment

  • Experience with teams/organizations ensuring maximum technology uptime and minimizing/eliminating technical failures

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates, and meet production deadlines

  • Experience with mission critical, 24x7 systems

  • Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, plus the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to grasp the complexities of the business, and effectively translate that into a strategy that drives measurable results

  • Ability to think strategically and drive ideas into action, with a positive outlook and willingness to take personal initiative

Standard work week:

Our normal business hours are 9 am - 6 pm M-F. All candidates must be available to work those hours. Some weekend and overtime work may be required.

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
