Vectrus Food Safety Supervisor in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

  • The Food Safety Supervisor plays a key role in the first line of defense against foodborne illnesses by ensuring that all areas under their purview comply with all relevant food safety standards and codes. keeping the food safety program up-to-date and ensuring all staff know how and when to manage records. performing checks on the organization for any breaches of food safety. The Food Safety Supervisor performs regular inspections and provides guidance and training at all Dining Facilities, Grocery Stores, Class 1 storage locations and other food service locations. The Food Safety Supervisor reports directly the Installation Logistics Director.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Inspecting and accepting or rejecting distribution of food and ingredients in accordance with safety and sanitation regulations. Ensure that sanitation issues are communicated throughout the facility.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce approved sanitation cleanup procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety guidelines as needed, including chemical safety and awareness.

  • Ensuring all food is suitable for human consumption based on health and safety standards.

  • Maintain adequate cleaning supply inventories of sanitation aids, chemical cleaners, sanitizers, and other sanitation equipment.

  • Control and monitor usage of cleaning chemicals and sanitation supplies.

  • Continuously inspects and audits food facilities and equipment

  • Continuously inspects areas that prepare or serve food

  • Inspection of ice machines and cleaning procedures

  • Complete all paperwork as necessary.

  • Proactively prevent any microbiological problems that may be due to improper cleaning; troubleshoot any issues that do arise

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Associates degree or equivalent trade school completion. Must provide a copy of the diploma or certificate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or agricultural science preferred.

  • US military experience in food inspection is preferred.

  • Must be in possession of a food safety inspection certificate from an accredited program.

  • Servsafe Certification required.

  • Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbally.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the area of food inspection, processing, storage, shipping and receiving

  • Skills

  • Able to direct, and supervise the daily operations of a food service Sanitation concerns.

  • Must be able to assist Auditors (USG and Vectrus) during weekly, monthly audits.

  • Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to a positive dining atmosphere.

  • Able to confers with customer, supervisors, contractors and other personnel to exchange information and resolve problems.

  • Supervisory Skills:

  • Collaborative work style fostering cooperation and teamwork.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Supervises training and implementation of employee food safety program at all locations.

  • Working Conditions:

  • The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity

  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).

  • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
