UL, LLC International Standards Project Manager in Mexico

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for safety standards. Manage standards activities and leverage technical expertise to enable the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety standards within the region.

  • Lead project segments and proactively forecast project needs. Plan and execute activities across the project lifecycle and ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.

  • Support the integration of safety standards and requirements into relevant end-product and services standards, and advocate for use of UL standards publications.

  • Analyze and interpret international regulations and policy frameworks related to safety standards, providing guidance and expertise.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders including industry representatives and organizations, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other standards organizations.

  • Organize and present information to internal and external stakeholders. Represent the organization through presentations, technical committees, panel discussions, and publications.

  • Support increasingly complex technical committee activities for technical committees in Mexico, as well as international and regional standards development organizations including but not limited to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

  • Identify, recruit and onboard technical committee members ensuring diverse expertise and representation.

  • Assess new proposals for safety standards, evaluate relevance and potential impact, ensure technical and safety considerations are thoroughly addressed.

  • Drive collaboration within the team to ensure team-level goal achievement and enable success in effective execution of standards activities.

  • Identify opportunities to collaborate cross functionally and within the broader safety community. Support continuous evolution and relevance of safety standards and create capacity for new high-impact standards.

  • Maintain continued awareness of industry trends and external context related to the portfolio. Stay current with regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks governing public safety.

  • Independently execute tasks and proactively mitigate risk or improve outcomes.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

Professional Competencies

  • Full understanding of technical standards, code development process and practical application of knowledge in technical area, with understanding of regulatory frameworks in Mexico.

  • Project management skills with experience developing project timelines, scope, and managing project resources. Ability to execute an end-to-end process independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead small project teams or workstreams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience analyzing and resolving issues, optimizing task execution, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

  • Strong communication, engagement, and public speaking skills, with ability to effectively communicate information to various stakeholder groups.

  • Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills, with proven capability in fostering collaboration and partnership across teams.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • University degree required. Technical degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience.

  • Experience with international affairs or public policy preferred.

  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English and Spanish.

  • Knowledge of fire and fire safety standards a plus.
