Assistant Financial Controller

Background

The Financial Reporting team is responsible to management of the corporate accounts of Sedgwick Ireland. The role encompasses all areas within a finance department and would suit someone who is training to be or is intending to complete a Professional Finance qualification.

Key Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Management of Daily Cash – inbound & outbound payments.

  • Investigation and resolution with Clients/Internal of unidentified cash

  • Reconciliation of Corporate bank accounts and investigation/action of variances

  • Assist in production of weekly/monthly cashflows

  • Ensure that all invoices and expense claims are authorised in accordance with company expense policy

  • Input of invoices and expense claims into the accounts system.

  • Accurate coding to expense codes and cost centres

  • Process weekly/monthly payment runs following the internal payments procedure

  • Issue confirmations / remittances to suppliers

  • Maintain Sedgwick Ireland Fixed Asset register in accordance with Capex policy.

  • Estimate and post month end accruals / prepayments

  • Monthly analysis and review of expenses codes / costs centres entries

  • Reconciliation of Company Balance Sheets on a monthly basis

  • Assist in commentary Budget/Forecast v Actual expenditure and report on variance to management

  • Petty cash management & reconciliation

  • Responsible for daily import and reconciliation of company fees

  • Timely and efficient resolution of unresolved issues

  • Assist in all reporting to Group Finance

  • Assist in Annual Financial Audit

  • Assist in preparation of annual Budgets/Forecasts.

  • Ad hoc analysis and investigations and queries

  • Project work

  • Other duties as directed by Management

Skills and Experience

  • Accountancy/Business Qualification and/or commenced a recognized accountancy course

  • Experience with SAP accounting system preferable

  • Experience working within a busy Finance department

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

  • Good collaborative skills, able to quickly establish effective internal and external working relationships with key people across different services/functions

  • Calmness and ability to respond effectively when under pressure e.g. in an emergency

  • Ability to meet weekly / monthly deadlines.

  • Ability to work flexibly, on own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Sound knowledge of MSExcel

  • Strong attention to detail and process

  • Highly numeric

  • Ability to follow up on unresolved issues in timely and efficient manner
