Senior Tactical Systems Analyst (Mission Planning) Virginia Beach, VA
Salary Range: $64 - $88 per hour DOE
Position Summary
We are immediately seeking an F/A-18 Mission Planning Subject Matter Expert to join our motivated Advanced Capabilities and Expert Solutions (ACES) Division, supporting our Software Training team in Virginia Beach, VA.
The ACES Division supports Tactical Air's mission by delivering world class training, products, and support directly to fleet aviators. As part of ACES, the Mission Planning team assists fleet users creating mission plans that use new and existing SCS and MPE features and capabilities. They act as resident operational planning and mission creation experts, promulgating best practices and techniques for existing and emerging capabilities enabled through mission planning.
The ideal candidate for this team is a proactive advocate for fleet mission planners, dedicated to educating and supporting them as they navigate this challenging and complex system. They will have e nthusiasm and commitment to a working environment requiring intense collaboration, robust communication, and proactive coordination with various FA-18E/F and EA-18G operational squadrons, test squadrons, program offices, and tactical centers of excellence.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary Weapons School JMPS SME with expert-level knowledge of the functions, capabilities, and limitations of JMPS as it pertains to the F/A-18E/F and new SCS releases
Assist with SCS research and training development. Provide support for new SCS and MPE releases.
Train and support squadron mission planners in all aspects of tactical JMPS utilization, mission creation, and troubleshooting
Develop and provide training in support of the Strike Fighter Advanced Readiness Program.
Provide mission creation, operational training, and support to local Air Wings throughout the workup cycle
Act as a liaison between fleet aircrew and the test and engineering communities
Proactively work to identify gaps in the F/A-18E/F mission creation process and be an advocate for the fleet, working to resolve them
Cross-train and assist other priority efforts within ACES
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline; advanced degree preferred. Combination of background, education, and training may be considered in lieu of degree
Minimum of eight years experience as F/A-18-A-F aircrew (Pilot or WSO)
Expertise with F/A-18 TMS mission planning and training systems
Travel (20%) required to various work sites throughout the U.S.
Valid state driver license
U.S. Citizenship
Active and current Secret Clearance with SAP eligibility
Desired Experience/Skills
Experience as a Squadron Joint Mission Planning System Officer (JMPS-O)
Ability to convey tactical and technical information as a F/A-18E/F Mission Planning SME
Ability to research, process, and distill complex technical material, subsequently presenting it to fleet aviators in meaningful and engaging ways
Ability to conduct professional, in-person training to groups of aircrew with varied experience levels
Excellent customer service skills
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules, deadlines, and standards on assigned projects
Work Authorization
Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form
