What you will do

In this vital role the Regional Lead Patient Access will be responsible for leading and managing a team of field-based Patient Access Liaison, ensuring the group meets business and personal development objectives. The objectives of the Patient Access team are to listen to patients, interpreting their specific needs and providing friendly, professional and well-informed answers to their logistical questions. The Regional Lead will provide input on the strategic direction of the business. They will coordinate with Area Sales Directors to facilitate appropriate teamwork between the team and their sales partners with regard to joint team priorities, strong communication, and healthcare provider education Amgen By Your Side services.

  • Lead and manage a team of patient access liaisons.

  • Accountable for the performance, training, and compliance of the team

  • Develop key performance metrics appropriate to the team’s efforts and company business objectives

  • Track each team member’s performance against key metrics

  • Develop each team member individually as needed in order to fulfill the role in each region

  • Work with Hub Services, Case Managers, AllCare Care Managers, Patient Engagement Marketing and Training to support patient access to medications.

  • Ensure the team has appropriate fundamental and ongoing training and expertise

  • Identify new patient needs throughout the year and work with cross-functional teams to communicate those needs effectively

  • Coordinate team participation in national and local patient meetings and events

  • Oversee and support patient programs, if applicable, to satisfy current patient educational needs

  • Develop presentations on the group objectives and performance as needed, at least quarterly

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Degree and 2 years of Patient Access experience OR

  • Masters Degree and 4 years of Patient Access experience OR

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 years of Patient Access experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pharma or medical industry

  • People management experience or proven initiative and success developing toward people management (Ex: mentoring/training, demonstrated leadership, elevating knowledge and performance of others)

  • Experience in rare diseases and/or applicable disorders preferred

  • Facility with key performance metrics and data analysis

  • Previous patient educator or patient access experience

  • Previous experience calling on patients and/or healthcare providers

  • Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG, and other guidelines relating to compliant medical communications.

  • Knowledge of insurance, reimbursement, and foundation assistance within the healthcare industry

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and an ability to thrive in a cross-functional team setting

  • Requires 50-75 % regional travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.

  • Excellent presentation and power point skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Professional, proactive demeanor.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $188,000.00 to $208,000.00. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
