Robert Half Accounting Manager/Supervisor in Virginia Beach, Virginia
Description
We are in search of a detail-oriented Accounting Manager/Supervisor to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role will be situated in the Government Consulting industry and will play a crucial part in managing financial reporting and analysis, maintaining accounting policies and procedures, and overseeing cash management.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all accounting functions including financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, budget preparation, and cash management.
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Implement a system of controls to audit accounting transactions and minimize risk.
• Manage the financial aspects of the company’s ERP system.
• Maintain standard cost accounting and inventory accuracy.
• Develop and manage business and accounting processes, tools, analysis, and reporting.
• Produce periodic financial reports ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other financial reporting standards.
• Prepare and manage all external audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by auditing accounts and coordinating with outside auditors as needed.
• Develop and manage company subcontractor contracts and relationships.
• Assist accounting staff with daily duties to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Present recommendations to management on financial objectives and policies.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information skillfully.
• Develop alternative solutions and work well in group problem-solving situations.
• Employ continual improvement practices to streamline processes using automated data mining, workflows, and other tools and techniques to improve accounting effectiveness and efficiency.

Requirements • Must possess at least 3 years of experience in an Accounting Manager or Supervisor role within the Government Consulting industry
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is essential
• Knowledge and experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is required
• Demonstrable ability to manage Accounting Functions effectively
• Must have experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience in Auditing is a must
• Familiarity with Billing Functions is necessary
• Contract Administration skills are required
• Must have experience with Contract Management
• Must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate strong leadership skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred but not required.
