Background and Introduction

The Firewall Engineer will be responsible for designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting firewalls to protect IT systems from unauthorized access, attacks, and other security threats. Knowledge of networking protocols and security policies, as well as experience with firewalls such as Check Point, Juniper, Fortigate, and Cisco ASA.

Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and maintain firewalls to safeguard IT systems and networks against internal and external threats.
• Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor network traffic and analyze security logs to detect and respond to potential threats or vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure integration, operation, and maintenance of systems and applications.
• Lead or support incident response efforts to quickly contain and resolve security incidents.
• Conduct regular security assessments to identify risks, gaps, and areas for improvement.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to IT teams on security best practices and solutions.

Desired Skills:

• Expertise in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, web application firewalls, and related security technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall platforms such as Check Point, Juniper, and Cisco ASA.
• Proficiency in firewall management tools like TUFIN, AlgoSec, FireMon, ManageEngine, Skybox, Panorama, Juniper Security Director, or Cisco Defense Orchestrator.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, ACL, and DNS.
• Deep understanding of security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methods, along with expertise in risk management, access control, network segmentation, and policy enforcement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly address complex security issues, such as DDoS attacks, malware infections, or network breaches.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP in networking or security disciplines.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in firewall engineering and network security
• Extensive knowledge of networking protocols and security policies
• Experience with firewall platforms such as Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, and Cisco ASA
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNA, and CCNP are a plus
