This position will be responsible for teaching a full course load 4/4 or 5/5 (dependent on rank) in fall and spring in Theatre. This position is primarily responsible for teaching courses that are central to the production track such as Introduction to Design, Lighting Design, Sound Design, Theatre Production Practicum, Theatre Design Practicum, Theatre Appreciation. Other teaching assignments based on qualifications may also be part of the teaching load. Faculty members are expected to make substantive contributions to the Department including department, university, and community service.

This individual may be asked to participate in support of relevant scholarship fundraiser activities as part of their service responsibilities.

This position will also oversee students working in lighting and sound technology

for a six-production season. This individual is responsible for

training students on the safe use of the theater equipment, systems, and facilities;

aintain equipment as needed;

and s

upervise student work in the production shop; among other things.

This individual will be expected to work collaboratively with the Technical Director and Scene Shop Supervisor, supervising students in areas such as basic carpentry, power tools, master electrician functions, etc. during scene shop hours (Monday-Friday 1-5pm throughout the academic fall/spring semesters). This position is expected to provide lighting and sound designs for the full production season or supervise student designers, as identified.

Typical Allocation of Duties

Teaching and scholarship - 80% Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.

Service - 20% Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.
