Job Description:

Fluor Consultants BV is focused on developing long term relationships with customers in revamping, debottlenecking and expanding the production capacity of their existing facilities in the Process Industry in the Southwest of the Netherlands. The Bergen op Zoom, Rotterdam and Stein offices provide the full project execution services: from conceptual engineering through commissioning and construction support.

Piping Material Engineering is a specialty group of qualified engineers, within the Piping Engineering Department, with the responsibilities to research, develop, select, calculate, identify and specify piping materials to satisfy all design conditions of pressure, temperature, corrosion, erosion and environment. Piping Material Engineering is familiar with and keeps abreast of material availability, manufacturing practices and guidelines, quality control, metallurgy, piping fabrication, assembly/erection, nondestructive examination, welding and heat treatment.

The Piping Material Engineer is also responsible for the technical support of the procurement process of piping materials (in cooperation with the Procurement Department), calculations of piping components, coordination with (local) authorities with respect to pressure equipment, assisting in the preparation and evaluation of third-party contracts and other responsibilities. The Piping Material Engineer will be in contact with suppliers, contractors and authority bodies.

The successful candidate must be able to:

• Prepare man-hour and monthly status reports regarding manhour budget and planning for the Piping Material Engineering efforts

• Prepare Piping Material Take-off and material estimates

• Prepare technical specifications such as pressure testing and purchase specs

• Develop and review piping line classes

• Perform line-numbering and pipe class allocations on P&ID’s and develop line lists

• Prepare purchase descriptions of bulk and special items

• Perform calculations of pressure-bearing piping components

• Perform Hot-tap calculations

• Perform Re-rate calculations

• Perform technical bid evaluations of received bids of suppliers

• Demonstrate and maintain effective Client relationships, as Fluor’s representor.

• Travel, as required for vendor inspections and to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals

• Demonstrate leadership skills, maintain effective relations with other disciplines and provide guidance/assistance to younger engineers.
