Open Rank Professor - Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications Program (2 positions)
The Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications Program (ALEC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) seeks to fill two open rank [Assistant/Associate/Full] tenure-track Professor positions in the areas broadly defined as organizational and community leadership as well as agricultural and nonformal education. Capitalizing on recent successes in fundraising for a global center for food and agricultural communications as well as recent awards to develop a robust series of graduate certificates in agricultural and Extension education, teacher development, leadership development and food and agricultural communications, the ALEC program is growing and poised to rise to a status of national prominence and we seek highly motivated scholars and educators to join our team.
We seek outstanding scholars in two broadly defined areas. This first is focused on leadership studies, leadership development, and leadership education within agricultural and food systems contexts. The second is focused on agricultural, extension and nonformal education and program development.
In addition, successful applicants with qualifications to hold the full Professor title and have experience demonstrated potential in providing administrative leadership in academic contexts, a record of scholarly accomplishment, experience in instruction demonstrating a commitment to student success and sustained achievement, experience in managing budgets and administrative experience in leadership, education or communications programs may be eligible for an administrative appointment as Director of ALEC.
Qualification: Candidates must have a PhD in agricultural and food systems leadership, leadership education, agricultural and food systems education, adult and nonformal education; or other related fields in the social sciences. Qualified candidates will be expected to create or sustain a productive line of research, scholarship, and funding; teach undergraduate and graduate courses and demonstrate passion and interest in innovative learning delivery in either: community and organizational leadership, or agricultural and extension or nonformal education. Candidates will be expected to develop and maintain a world class research program in their respective disciplinary expertise and teach courses related to either diversity in leadership, ethics of leadership, and other related areas or adult and nonformal education, food and agricultural systems teacher education, and formal and nonformal educator development.
Salary and Appointment: These positions are full-time (100%, 9-month academic service year) tenure or tenure track appointments. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The budgeted salary range for this position is \$80,000-\$95,000 at the Assistant Professor level, \$90,000 - \$105,000 at the Associate Professor level, and \$105,000 - \$120,000 at the Full Professor level. The initial appointment for the leadership-focused role is expected to be 45% research, 45% teaching, and 10% academic leadership/service and 30% Extension, 30% Research, 30% Teaching and 10% academic leadership/service for the Extension role.
Start Date: The anticipated starting date for these positions is August 16, 2025 or as soon as possible after closing.
