Job Summary

Background The Veterinary Innovation Hub is at the forefront of integrating advanced technology into veterinary education and the industry of animal health. Our mission is to revolutionize veterinary education and animal care through the implementation of cutting-edge technological tools in the animal health sector. Specifically, we aim to facilitate the transition of veterinary medicine into the digital era by helping individuals and businesses develop the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a technology-driven economy. The Lead Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for exploring technological solutions to advance veterinary medicine through research and development and establishing an information management and data application curriculum. This involves staying at the forefront of emerging technological capabilities and limitations relative to information management systems, artificial intelligence, and anticipated disruptions to the veterinary industry. The Lead Software Engineer will establish a series of courses to teach students an understanding of how to effectively collect, organize, store, and utilize data in their veterinary practice, develop new software, and implement new technology into the veterinary curriculum.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach Information Management to veterinarians and graduate students

    Lead the development and delivery of degree and non-degree courses that teach students an understanding of how to effectively collect, organize, store and utilize data.

    Collaborate with veterinary faculty to establish learning objectives based on industry knowledge gaps

    Establish a comprehensive assessment plan at the programmatic and course level for students to have an applied understanding of new technology relative to their profession.

    Evaluate learner outcomes at the end of courses and make pedagogical recommendations to achieve the best results and learner experience.

    Develop and implement AI tools into the veterinary curriculum

  • Research and Development of Information Management Systems

    Research and test new AI-driven approaches to veterinary medicine and veterinary education including but not limited to conducting data analysis, managing large datasets, and writing articles on algorithm performance.

    Manage and maintain information systems, ensuring data integrity and security, analyze and interpret data to support decision-making processes, and Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in information management.

    Serve as the primary research scientist and lab manager of the veterinary innovation hub including exploring and securing grant-funded projects, training support staff on information best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize information workflows and processes.

  • Administrative

    Develop and implement information management strategies and policies.

    Ensure the integrity and accessibility of data throughout the project lifecycle.

    Oversee data governance and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

    Work closely with program faculty on funding solutions for innovation projects including grants, start-up funding, and industry relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Master\'s degree in information management, Information Systems or related field Proven experience in information management, data governance, including handling, cleaning and analyzing large datasets Proficiency in Large Language Models (LLM) or computer vi ion segmentation models

Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years of project management experience involving AI applications or related topic.

supervisory experience

Prior experience or coursework in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data management.

Previous internship or project work involving AI applications.

Passion for healthcare and technology\'s role in advancing veterinary medicine.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after close date. Salary range is \$65,000 - \$75,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
